This division includes:
- mining, for example underground, open-cast or seabed mining of metal ores and native metals,
- ore preparation and enrichment, for example by:
- crushing, grinding and washing,
- concentration by magnetic separation or by separation based on differences in specific gravity of fractions,
- flotation, screening, sorting, drying, calcining and roasting.
